HIEM supports UK based business programme designed to stimulate innovation

Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM) proudly supports the Innovation Challenge 2025, delivered by TBAT Innovation, in partnership with headline sponsors Shakespeare Martineau and Barclays Eagle Labs.

HIEM is part of several partners delivering the programme, leveraging expertise supporting the delivery of four free to attend vibrant and informative online workshops.

Businesses are offered the opportunity to take part in a live pitch in October to win a £10,000 prize and over £65,000 of tailored business support.

Workshops will take place between March and June with registrations for workshop 1 ‘ how to finance your business’ now open for registrations. This session includes Alison Mlot, Commercial Manager at HIEM who will be part of the delivery of the workshop. More information here.

Timeline:

PHASE 1

March – June 2025: 4 free-to-attend online workshops take place covering key elements of business growth. The workshops are open to all, with no requirement to apply to win the overall challenge. Browse all workshops here.

PHASE 2

June 2025: Applications open and businesses can apply to win The Innovation Challenge by submitting an application form and supporting documents. See eligibility criteria here.

PHASE 3

October 2025: Shortlisted organisations will be invited to pitch live at a showcase event, where the judging panel will crown a Winner and 2 Runners-up.

Who can apply?

  • Start-ups: UK Businesses that are three years old or younger are eligible to apply.
  • UK Businesses over three years old that are still heavily involved in R&D or looking to introduce new technology.
  • Aspiring Entrepreneurs: Those who are seeking to launch a business in the UK.
  • Technology-based businesses: To be eligible, your business must offer a product or service that is technology-based, showcasing innovative solutions in various sectors.
