University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) has appointed two new Non-Executive Directors to its senior leadership team. David Moon and Andrew Moore attended their first public Board meetings in March 2024. David and Andrew have a wealth of board-level experience from the NHS as well as the public and private sectors.

David Moon has worked in healthcare for over 35 years with more than 20 years’ experience on boards of NHS or related bodies, including as Chief Finance and Strategy Officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. David is a trustee of Shipston Home Nursing and a Non-Executive Director of Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

David is currently a part-time management consultant advising on strategic finance working for SWFT Clinical Services Ltd supporting the Foundation Group, which is comprised of South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, George Eliot NHS Trust, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and Wye Valley NHS Trust, as well as supporting other NHS bodies.

Andrew Moore joined Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Group as a Non-Executive Director following a board-level career in retail. Andrew’s commercial background includes a variety of senior positions including directorships at Marks & Spencer, Chief Merchandising Officer at Asda-Walmart, and Chief Commercial Officer at Wilko. He has also worked in South Africa where he started his own retail consultancy and partnered with Woolworths South Africa. He retains a close connection with the retail sector through his advisory work with corporate investor institutions.

In 2019 he joined the board of Breast Cancer Now charity as a trustee where he is now Vice Chair. He is committed to helping the charity navigate the many challenges faced by the not-for-profit sector and contributing to its strategic development and operational efficiency. He also chairs the finance and investment committee and sits on the risk and governance committee.

Richard Mitchell, Chief Executive at UHL said: “I am delighted to welcome David and Andrew to our Trust Board. Our leadership team brings together talent and experience from a range of sectors that will help us become a leading NHS organisation.”
