‘Unseen Unheard’ is a play for theatre developed by Gilead Sciences in association with Black Woman Rising (BWR), a pioneering cancer charity. Presented by Theatre Peckham, the play is written by Naomi Denny, directed by Simon Frederick and Suzann McLean and is commissioned and funded by Gilead Sciences Ltd. The play was based on the lived experiences of six women who are living with or who have had breast cancer (of all types/stages) and addresses challenges these women face, from cultural barriers to abounding myths. The play addresses issues on inequalities in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, survival, and care and the lack of representation in the media.
Content warning: themes throughout the event will touch on cancer experiences including diagnosis and treatment and some may find the content distressing. Please prioritise your mental health and step away or seek support during the event.
